THE Zambian Parliament has exonerated ZUFIAW from corruption allegations made in Parliament over the missing K20 billion meant for drainage works in Kanyama Constituency.
In a letter to ZUFIAW, Parliament admitted that Kanyama member of parliament Gerry Chanda made a mistake when he mentioned ZUFIAW instead of ZULAWU – the Zambia Union of Local Authorities and Allied Workers – who were reported in the 2009 Auditors-General Report of having received K81 million from the missing K20 billion.
The area MP had told Parliament that government should investigate the missing K20 billion which was meant for upgrading the drainage in his Constituency. The MP said out of the missing funds, K 1 billion went to the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) while ZUFIAW received K81 million.
